Strategic PIM Audit — Haribo
PIM Maturity Assessment for a Global CPG Leader
Haribo is one of the world's best-known confectionery brands, operating across 100+ markets with a complex product catalog spanning multiple categories, markets, and regulatory zones. In July 2024, Haribo engaged Doctor Project for a strategic PIM audit and Akeneo maturity assessment. The objective was to evaluate the current state of product information management, identify gaps against enterprise PIM best practices, and produce a prioritized roadmap for PIM program investment — enabling the business to make a data-driven decision on its next phase of digital transformation.
Assessing PIM Maturity Across a Global Multi-Market Catalog
Global CPG PIM programs carry a specific challenge: the same product can have different attributes, regulatory requirements, and channel specifications across dozens of markets. Without a structured maturity framework, it is impossible to distinguish between process gaps, data quality issues, and platform limitations — yet each requires a different investment and team response. Haribo needed an independent, senior-level assessment that could cut through internal perspectives and give the leadership team an honest picture of where the PIM program stood and what it would take to reach the next level.
PIM Audit, Akeneo Maturity Roadmap, and Investment Priorities
The audit applied a structured PIM maturity model covering data governance, workflow design, team operating model, Akeneo platform utilization, and channel readiness. Each dimension was scored and benchmarked against enterprise CPG standards. The output was a prioritized roadmap with clear investment categories: quick wins achievable within 90 days, medium-term platform improvements, and strategic program decisions requiring leadership commitment. The findings gave Haribo's leadership team the factual basis to prioritize their 2024–2025 PIM investment and align internal stakeholders around a common transformation agenda.
